Getting Started with Your Managed VPS

October 20, 2026 5 min read 1 views

Your Managed VPS

A Managed VPS is built and looked after by Go Red Robot. You tell us what you need it to do; we design, build and run the server around that. This guide explains what happens after you order, and how to ask for things once it is running.

We build it around your requirements

You do not need to know, or choose, the full technical stack. Tell us what you are running — a website, an application, a business system — and anything it must work with. We choose and configure the operating system, software and security around those requirements, and check anything unclear with you before we build.

How long it takes

Your server is normally ready within 24 hours once we have received all the information we need. If something is missing, we will contact you, and the clock starts once we have it.

Asking for changes

Need extra software, a configuration change or more resources? Open a support ticket and describe what you need and why. We will make the change, or come back to you first if it needs a decision from you — for example if it affects your plan.

Backups and monitoring

  • Backups: we take daily managed backups of your server and keep them for 30 days by default. If you need something different, ask and we will discuss it.
  • Monitoring: we monitor your server and investigate problems as they come up, often before you notice them.

Something urgent?

If your server is down or something critical has stopped working, raise a support ticket and set the priority to Urgent. Urgent tickets go straight to the top of our queue.

Need more, or a second server?

For a new server or significantly larger requirements, see our Managed VPS page or tell us what you are planning and we will recommend the right setup.
