Installing WordPress with One Click

Installing WordPress

This guide shows you how to install WordPress on your hosting account using Enhance Panel's built-in WordPress installer.

This is the fastest and easiest way to get your website online.

Requirements

Before you start, make sure:

  • You have an active hosting account
  • Your domain is already added in your Control Panel
  • DNS is pointing to your server

Step 1: open the app installer

  1. Log in to your control panel.
  2. Open the website you want WordPress on.
  3. Find the Apps section.
  4. Choose WordPress.

WordPress is not the only thing here — WooCommerce, Joomla and others install exactly the same way.

Step 2: fill in four things

  1. Site title — changeable later, so do not agonise over it.
  2. Admin username — avoid admin. It is the first thing anyone attacking a WordPress site tries.
  3. Admin password — make it a long one.
  4. Admin email — where password resets go, so use one you can actually get into.

Step 3: install

Click install and wait. It usually takes under a minute, and it arrives on the current version of WordPress — there is no update to run before you start.

After it is installed — three things worth doing

  1. Turn on SSL. Your certificate is free, and once switched on it is issued and renewed for you. It is not on by default, so this one is on you.
  2. Turn on automatic updates. Out-of-date plugins are the single most common way WordPress sites get hacked. The panel can keep core and plugins updated for you.
  3. Log in and delete what you will not use. Unused themes and plugins are still code on your site, and still worth removing.

Getting into your new site

Your WordPress admin area is at yourdomain.com/wp-admin. Sign in with the username and password you chose during setup.

Making changes safely later

Once your site is live and real people are using it, stop testing on it. Make a staging copy, try the change there, and push it live when you are happy. It is built in and it costs nothing.

If the install fails

  • Check your domain is added to your hosting and pointing at us — the installer needs somewhere to install to.
  • Check the website does not already have files in it.
  • If it still will not go, open a ticket. Do not keep retrying; we would rather look at the error than have you guess.
