Adding a New Customer

Adding a New Customer

Every client you host gets their own customer account in the panel. The panel sometimes calls this an organisation. It holds their websites, email accounts, packages and logins, and keeps them separate from everyone else's.

You can create the account, set up the owner's login and pick a package in one go.

Before you start

  • Have at least one package ready. You can add a customer without one, but they can't build anything until they have one. See Creating a Hosting Package.
  • Set your control panel address. Until you do, your customers have nowhere to log in. The form warns you with a yellow box that says Your customers cannot log in yet. See Setting Your Panel Address and Nameservers.

Step 1: open the Add customer form

  1. Click Customers in the left-hand menu.
  2. Click Add customer. It sits top right once you have customers, or in the middle of the page if you have none yet.
The Manage customers page in the Enhance panel, with the Add customer button in the top right corner.

Step 2: name the account and add the owner's email

  1. Organization name is the client's business name. It's what you'll see in your customer list, so make it easy to recognise.
  2. Owner's email is the email address of the person who will log in. If they already have a login with you, pick them from the list. If not, just type the new address.

As soon as you type a new email address, more fields appear.

Step 3: fill in the owner's details and choose a package

  1. Owner's name: the person's full name.
  2. Password: type one, or click the key button next to the eye icon and the panel will make a strong one for you. It needs a lowercase letter, a capital letter, a number, a special character and at least 10 characters in total.
  3. Package: choose what they're paying for. You can leave this blank and add it later.

Step 4: click Add

Click Add. The panel confirms with a green message and takes you straight to the customer's page, which has four tabs:

  • Websites: every site they own
  • Emails: every email account across their sites
  • Packages: what they're subscribed to and how much they've used
  • Users: everyone who can log in to their account

Step 5: send them their login

Send your customer three things: your control panel address, their email address and their password. Don't put the password in the same email as the address. Use a password manager share, a text message or a phone call instead.

What to do next

Troubleshooting

  • The Add button is greyed out. A required field is empty, or the password doesn't meet the rules yet. Look for the rule that isn't ticked green.
  • You've hit your customer limit. The form shows how many customers your own reseller package allows (for example, "0 of 1000 customers used"). If you've used them all, contact us to upgrade.
