Suspending or Removing a Customer
When a customer hasn't paid, has broken the rules, or has left, you have two options:
- Suspend takes all of their websites and email offline, but keeps everything. You can switch them back on at any time.
- Delete permanently removes their websites and email accounts. There's no undo and nothing can be brought back, so only do this once you're sure they've gone for good.
If you're not sure which to choose, suspend.
Suspending a customer
- Click Customers in the left-hand menu.
- Click the three dots (⋮) on the customer's row, then click Suspend. You'll find the same option in the ⋮ menu at the top right of the customer's own page.
- The window warns you that all websites and email accounts owned by that customer will go offline. Click Suspend.
A red SUSPENDED label appears next to their name. To see only suspended customers, change the All statuses filter above the list to Suspended.
Bringing a suspended customer back
- Click the three dots (⋮) on the suspended customer's row.
- Click Unsuspend.
- The window confirms that their websites and email will come back online. Click Unsuspend.
Suspending just one package or one website
You don't have to switch off everything a customer has:
- One package: open the customer, go to the Packages tab, click the three dots (⋮) on the package, and choose Suspend.
- One website: on your Websites page, click the three dots (⋮) on the website, and choose Suspend.
Deleting a customer
Before you delete a customer, make sure they have everything they need. If they're moving to another host, give them time to take a copy of their website and email.
- Click the three dots (⋮) on the customer's row, then click Delete.
- The window warns that all their websites and email accounts will be deleted. Read it carefully, then click Delete.
The panel's warning says "You can restore this customer at any point". Ignore that. Restoring a deleted customer isn't something we can do for you. Once you click Delete, the customer, their websites, email accounts and all of their data are gone for good.
Take a copy of anything you or your customer might need before you delete. If you only want to take someone offline for a while, suspend them instead.
Troubleshooting
- You can't impersonate a suspended customer. That's expected. Unsuspend them first.
